How the Snapchat video downloader works
Snapchat Spotlight videos and public Stories from public profiles are open on the web at snapchat.com. Paste the link of one here and SLMtik fetches the same public video your browser would play, then gives it to you as an MP4. Nothing is installed, you never log in, and the creator is not notified.
What you can save
| Content | Can it be saved? |
|---|---|
| Spotlight videos | Yes |
| Public Stories and Highlights of public profiles and creators | Yes — see the Snapchat story downloader |
| Snaps and Stories sent to friends | No — they are private |
| Chats and Memories of other people | No |
SLMtik never asks for your Snapchat password and cannot open private content. Any tool that claims to show private snaps is a scam — do not give it your login.
Quality and the Snapchat watermark
You get the best file Snapchat serves for the video, usually 720p or 1080p vertical HD, plus an MP3 button for the sound. Spotlight videos on the web often include Snapchat's logo and the creator's name inside the picture. SLMtik downloads the file exactly as Snapchat provides it and does not cut, blur or remove watermarks — they show who made the video. For a version without watermark of your own snaps, see below.
Your own snaps without watermark
Snaps you made are saved without any logo in Memories: open Memories, select the snap, tap Export and choose Download or Camera Roll. For a complete backup, use Settings → My Data, which sends you an archive of your Memories and account data.
Use it fairly
Save posts you made yourself, or that the creator lets you keep, for personal viewing. Re-posting someone else's video or photo — even with credit — needs their permission, and each platform's own terms apply to what you save. Creators who want a post blocked from SLMtik can use our copyright page.
