How the Facebook Reels downloader works
Facebook Reels are short vertical videos, and the app has no button to save other people's Reels. Paste the link of a public Reel here and SLMtik fetches the same public file Facebook plays, then gives it to you as a normal MP4. It runs in your browser, so it works as a Facebook Reels downloader on any phone or computer without an extension.
HD Reels with sound
Facebook often stores the HD picture and the sound of a Reel as two separate streams. SLMtik joins them into one MP4, so MP4 HD gives you the full-quality Reel — usually 720p or 1080p — with audio. A lighter SD copy is listed when Facebook has one, and MP3 saves only the soundtrack.
| Button | What you get |
|---|---|
| MP4 HD | The Reel with sound in the best quality |
| MP4 SD | A smaller copy for chats and slow connections |
| MP3 audio | Just the sound or song |
Reel links that work
- facebook.com/reel/… — yes.
- fb.watch/… short links — yes.
- Reels shared to public pages and groups — yes, if the group is public.
- Reels from friends-only profiles or private groups — no. They are private, and SLMtik never asks for your Facebook password.
Many Facebook Reels are cross-posted from Instagram or TikTok. If the Reel shows a TikTok logo, the clean original is probably on TikTok — save it there with the TikTok downloader without watermark. For an Instagram original, use the Instagram Reels downloader.
Your own Reels
For Reels you made, you can also open the Reel in the Facebook app, tap the three dots and choose Save to device (when available), or export everything with Settings → Your information → Download your information.
Use it fairly
Save posts you made yourself, or that the creator lets you keep, for personal viewing. Re-posting someone else's video or photo — even with credit — needs their permission, and each platform's own terms apply to what you save. Creators who want a post blocked from SLMtik can use our copyright page.
