Quick answer: Copy the TikTok link, open slmtik.com in Chrome, paste and click Download. The file goes to Files → Downloads.
Step by step
- Open the TikTok video on tiktok.com in Chrome and copy the address bar (Ctrl + L, then Ctrl + C). From the TikTok Android app on your Chromebook, use Share → Copy link.
- Open a new tab (Ctrl + T) and go to slmtik.com.
- Click in the box and press Ctrl + V, then click Download.
- Pick MP4 for the video or MP3 for the sound.
Where the file is saved
Open the launcher and search "Files", or press Alt + Shift + M. The video is in Downloads. Double-click to play it in the Gallery app.
School-managed Chromebooks
If your Chromebook belongs to a school or company, the administrator may block downloads or certain sites. That is a policy setting, not a fault, and only the admin can change it.
Editing on a Chromebook
- Trim: open the video in Gallery and use the built-in trim tool on newer ChromeOS versions.
- Full edits: CapCut works in the browser at capcut.com and accepts MP4 files from Downloads.
- Audio: MP3 files open in the Gallery audio player or any web editor.
Save to Google Drive
Drag the file from Downloads into Google Drive in the Files sidebar. It is then available on your phone and other computers, and it no longer takes local space on a small Chromebook drive.
Why not an extension?
Downloader extensions ask for permission to "read and change all your data on all websites". That is a lot of trust for a feature you can get from a normal web page.
