Quick answer: iPhone: Files → Downloads. Android: Gallery → Download album. Windows and Mac: the Downloads folder. Chromebook: Files → Downloads.

iPhone and iPad

Safari saves downloads to the Files app, not to Photos. Open Files → Browse → On My iPhone → Downloads (or iCloud Drive → Downloads if you changed it). To put a video in Photos, open it, tap the Share icon and choose Save Video. Full walkthrough: save to camera roll.

Tip: in Safari, the blue arrow in the address bar opens your recent downloads list.

Android

Files go to Internal storage/Download. Gallery apps show them in an album called Download. In Chrome, tap ⋮ → Downloads to see the list. If it is missing from Gallery, see our Android gallery guide.

Windows 10 and 11

Everything goes to C:\Users\YourName\Downloads by default. Press Ctrl + J in Chrome or Edge to see the downloads list, and click "Show in folder".

Mac

Safari, Chrome and Firefox all use the Downloads folder in your Dock and Finder sidebar. Press Option + Cmd + L in Safari to open the downloads list.

Chromebook

Open the Files app (the launcher or Alt + Shift + M) and choose Downloads. Videos play in the built-in Gallery app. More in downloading on a Chromebook.

Still cannot find it?

  • Search your device for .mp4 or for "slmtik", which is often part of the file name.
  • Check that the download actually finished. A file ending in .crdownload or .part is incomplete.
  • Your browser may ask where to save each file. Look in the last folder you picked.

Frequently asked questions

Why do downloads not go straight to Photos on iPhone?

Safari treats every download as a file. Moving it to Photos takes one extra tap: Share → Save Video.

Can I change the download folder?

Yes. In iPhone Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads, or in your computer browser's settings under Downloads.

What does .crdownload mean?

The download did not finish. Delete it and download again on a stable connection.

Ready? Paste your link and save it.
