Quick answer: Copy the video link in TikTok with Share → Copy link, paste it into SLMtik, choose Video and tap Download. The clean MP4 saves to Files → Downloads on iPhone, to the gallery on Android, and to the Downloads folder on a computer. No app or account is needed.
There are two ways to save a TikTok: the app's own Save video button, and an online downloader like SLMtik. Each has a place, and knowing the difference saves you from blurry copies, missing buttons and dodgy apps.
Option 1: TikTok's Save video button
Tap Share → Save video. It is quick and stays inside the app, but it has three catches:
- The copy carries the bouncing TikTok logo and the creator's username.
- It is often compressed more than the original upload.
- The button is missing when the creator has switched downloads off.
For a quick clip to send to a friend, that is fine. For anything you want to keep, edit or repost (your own work), a clean copy is better.
Option 2: SLMtik (clean HD copy)
- In TikTok, tap Share → Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar.
- Open SLMtik in your browser.
- Tap Paste, keep Video selected and tap Download.
- Pick 1080p or 720p.
That is the whole process. There is no account, no app and nothing to install, and the same steps work on every phone and computer.
Where the file goes
| Device | Location | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone / iPad | Files → Downloads | Share → Save Video to add it to Photos |
| Android | Gallery and Files → Downloads | Nothing — it is already in your gallery |
| Windows / Mac | Downloads folder | Open with any video player |
Downloading without the TikTok app
You do not need the app at all. Open tiktok.com in any browser, find the video, and copy the address from the address bar. Paste it into SLMtik as usual. This is handy on a work computer, a school Chromebook, or a phone where you deleted TikTok to save space.
Choosing the right format
- Video (MP4) for watching, sharing and editing — see TikTok to MP4.
- MP3 when you only need the sound — see TikTok to MP3.
- Photos for slideshow posts — see the photo downloader.
- Story for 24-hour stories — see the story downloader.
When the creator turned off downloads
Creators can switch off the Save button for their videos. That is a signal they do not want copies shared around. You can still save a public video for your own offline viewing, but do not re-post it, and never remove their credit.
Common problems
If the download fails, the link is usually incomplete, the post is private, or it was deleted. Copy the link again and retry. The full checklist is in TikTok download not working.
