Quick answer: Downloading a public video with a website like SLMtik does not notify the creator and is not linked to your account, because you never log in. Viewing inside the app is a different story.
What creators can see
- TikTok: creators see total views. Profile view history and story viewers are visible when those features are on and you watch while logged in.
- Instagram: story viewers are listed by name for accounts that watch while logged in.
- Snapchat: story viewers and screenshots of snaps are shown to the sender.
What they cannot see
When you paste a public link into a downloader, the platform sees a request from SLMtik's server, not from your account. No name, no notification, no "saved by" list. You are not logged in, so there is nothing to connect it to you.
TikTok story downloads
Watching a TikTok story in the app while logged in can show you in the viewer list. Downloading it through the story downloader does not, because no account is used.
What SLMtik keeps
We do not ask for an account, and we do not keep a history of your downloads tied to you. Details are in our privacy policy.
Anonymous is not the same as allowed
Privacy protects you from awkward notifications; it does not change copyright. Keep downloads for personal use, and ask before reposting.
Extra privacy tips
- Copy links from a browser where you are logged out, so even the link itself carries no account hints.
- Remove tracking parameters after the
?in a shared link before you paste it anywhere public. - Never give a downloader your social media password.
