Quick answer: Save the TikTok sound as MP3 with SLMtik. On Android, add it in Settings → Sound → Ringtone. On iPhone, open it in the free GarageBand app, trim it to 30 seconds, and export it with Share → Ringtone.

The hardest part of a TikTok ringtone is getting the sound out of TikTok. Once you have it as an MP3, Android lets you use it in seconds, and iPhone needs one free Apple app.

Step 1: Get the sound as MP3

Copy the link of the video (ideally the original sound, see how to convert TikTok to MP3), paste it into the MP3 downloader and save the file.

On Android

  1. Open Settings → Sound & vibration → Phone ringtone.
  2. Tap + or Add ringtone (Samsung: the + in the top corner).
  3. Pick the MP3 from Downloads. Done.

To trim it, most Android phones offer "Highlights only" in the ringtone picker, or you can cut it with a free audio editor first. For alarms, open the Clock app, edit an alarm and choose the same file.

On iPhone (with GarageBand)

  1. Install GarageBand from the App Store (free, made by Apple).
  2. Open it, start an Audio Recorder project, and tap the multi-track view icon.
  3. Tap the loop icon, choose Files, and drag your MP3 into the timeline.
  4. Trim it to under 30 seconds by dragging the edges.
  5. Tap the arrow at the top left → My Songs, long-press the project, choose Share → Ringtone and Export.
  6. Tap Use sound as… → Standard Ringtone.

Tips for a good ringtone

  • Start on the catchiest part — you hear the first two seconds most.
  • Keep it between 15 and 30 seconds.
  • Avoid clips with talking at the start; they sound like someone is in the room.
  • Lower the volume of very loud clips in GarageBand so it is not distorted on the speaker.

Notification sounds and contacts

You can use the same file for a single contact (open the contact → Edit → Ringtone) or as a text tone. A short, distinctive sound for one person is easy to recognise from across the room.

About music rights

Using a song as your own ringtone is personal use. Selling or sharing ringtone files of commercial songs is not, so keep them to yourself.

Tools used in this guide

  • TikTok to MP3 downloader — Keep only the sound. Paste a TikTok link and save the song, voice-over or audio as an MP3 that plays everywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I pick an MP3 as ringtone on iPhone?

iPhone only accepts ringtones in its own format. GarageBand converts the MP3 for you.

How long can a ringtone be?

Up to 30 seconds on iPhone. Android accepts longer files but plays only until you answer.

Can I use the sound as an alarm?

Yes. On Android choose it in the Clock app; on iPhone, GarageBand ringtones also appear in the alarm sound list.

Do I need a ringtone app?

No. Android does it in Settings, and iPhone uses Apple's free GarageBand.
