Quick answer: Tap the Share arrow on the right side of a TikTok video and choose Copy link in the bottom row. For stories, open the story and tap Share at the bottom. For profiles, tap the share arrow at the top of the profile. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar.
The link is the address of one post on TikTok. SLMtik needs it to know which video, photo set or story you want. TikTok hides it in slightly different places depending on what you are looking at, so here is each one.
Videos and photo posts
Tap the Share arrow on the right side, then Copy link in the bottom row. If you do not see it, swipe the bottom row to the left. The link looks like https://www.tiktok.com/@name/video/123… or the short form https://vm.tiktok.com/ABC…. Both work in SLMtik.
Stories
Open the story by tapping the profile picture with the coloured ring. Tap Share at the bottom, then Copy link. Story links expire with the story after 24 hours, so use them quickly in the story downloader.
Sounds
Tap the spinning record in the bottom-right corner of any video to open the sound page. Tap the share arrow at the top and choose Copy link. To download the sound itself, copy the link of the original video on that page instead and use the MP3 downloader.
Profiles
On the profile, tap the share arrow or ⋯ at the top, then Copy link. You get tiktok.com/@name — use it in the profile picture viewer.
On a computer
Open the video on tiktok.com and copy the address from the browser bar (Ctrl+L, then Ctrl+C), or right-click the video and choose Copy link. Links from the desktop site and the app are the same and both work.
From a chat or another app
If someone sent you a TikTok on WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram or Messenger, long-press the message and choose Copy. You may copy the whole message, including text before the link. SLMtik picks the link out, but if it complains, paste into the box and delete everything before https://.
Links that do not work
- Copied text instead of a link: the box should hold exactly one address starting with https://.
- Link to a live stream: live streams cannot be downloaded while they are live.
- Private post: the link opens for you because you follow the account, but it is not public.
- Deleted or region-blocked video: if it does not play in a private browser window, it cannot be fetched.
Check a link in five seconds
Open a private or incognito window in your browser and paste the link into the address bar. If the video plays there without logging in, it is public and SLMtik can save it. If TikTok asks you to log in or says the video is unavailable, the post is private, restricted or gone.
Tools used in this guide
- TikTok to MP3 downloader — Keep only the sound. Paste a TikTok link and save the song, voice-over or audio as an MP3 that plays everywhere.
- TikTok story downloader — Stories vanish after 24 hours. Save a public TikTok story as a video or photo while it is still up.
- TikTok profile picture viewer — The app shows profile pictures as a tiny circle. Paste a profile link to see and save the avatar in full size.
